“Boy” the Movie

Esteemed filmaker and artist Merata Mita came to us, asking if we could assist with the online promotions of Boy, which was still in pre-production. She was resolute that it should be marketed firstly to a Maori audience and celebrated within the communities that had been apart of its making.

TangataWhenua.com was responsible for all online promotions to Maori. We used a mix of social networks and news pieces highlighting key milestones. We were also responsible for organising the Word-of-Mouth sessions around the country.

The movie went on to become the most popular movie in New Zealand history.
